“The Earth does not belong to us. We belong to the Earth” – Marlee Martin
And yet, for the past hundred years, we have acted otherwise. Ever since the onset of the industrial revolution, we have indiscriminately and relentlessly assailed against the environment around us in an effort to extract copious amounts of fossil fuels. While the rapid combustion of oil, coal, and natural gas has definitely enabled us to carry out a myriad of industrial processes at an exponential rate, it has occurred at such an unsustainable rate that we have unintentionally pushed our environment into significant peril – a fact we can no longer ignore. Today, our protective ozone layer is disappearing, exposing our planet to dangerous solar radiation. This phenomenon has sent temperatures soaring across the globe and in turn caused sea levels to rise as well. As temperatures will continue to rise over the next few years, so will our oceans. This threatens some low lying islands. As Sea Levels rise further, we are all trapped in a viscous cycle.
FuelsForThought is an initiative that I have founded to play a really small albeit integral part in breaking out of this viscious cycle of environmental degradation. We operate on a basis of raising awareness to the community at large about the kinds of dangers our environment is subject to and the need to break out instantly. Do check the about page for a fuller explaination on our mechanism of action.
